ABOUT THE ARTIST

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

Through my work as an acupuncturist, I intuitively engage with concepts of Qi, an energy that animates and organizes life. As an artist I directly experience the Qi, guiding my painting and serving as a spiritual bridge between healing and art making.

My recent transition from oil pastel on paper to acrylic on canvas marks an exciting expansion of both material and vision allowing me to open into a more immersive and unfolding inner landscapes. In these recent paintings I investigate how invisible energies manifest through gesture, color, and form.

Floating spheres and luminous apparitions drift through atmospheric space, suggesting movement across dimensions. I think of these forms as portals or sites of passage.

Painting becomes a trance-like unfolding, a process of discovery where the corporal and noncorporal converge. From that place, I experience currents of energy or Qi rising from deep water. This collection of paintings emerges from a threshold where ethereal forms are seeking to be known.

BIOGRAPHY

Joseph Goldfedder is an artist and acupuncturist based in West Trenton, New Jersey, whose interdisciplinary practice integrates Chinese Medicine with his visual work.  A transformative period living in New Mexico immersed him in a new world of healing, ultimately leading him to study acupuncture. Through his clinical practice, Goldfedder deepened his understanding of how vital energy, also known as Qi, moves through the body, shapes consciousness, and supports healing.

Goldfedder holds a BFA from the University of the Arts, an MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a Master of Science in Oriental Medicine from Southwest Acupuncture College. He is also a Certified Medical Intuitive Practitioner (CMIP®) through The Practical Path. He currently practices acupuncture in Toms River and Barnegat, New Jersey, and continues to find ways to integrate art, healing, and spiritual inquiry in his work.
